87-Year-Old Granny Saved By This Heroic Pup

A black dog is looking up at the sky

There are a lot of articles published in books and online about the heroic acts of dogs all over the world. Today, we will meet another hero who saved his elderly neighbor after falling.

Tim Curfman of Alexandria Minnesota noticed the unusual behavior of his Black Labrador one cold day. He takes the garbage regularly, but this time, he realized that Midnight, the black Labrador acts strangely. It seems like Midnight wants to tell him something.

Midnight’s restlessness made Curfman curious and followed Midnight at the back of their house. He noticed that Midnight led her to his elderly neighbor who fell while refilling her bird feeder.

Due to her age and the lack of something to hold onto, she was unable to recover from the fall. Her gloves became wet which automatically froze which makes standing a lot difficult. Good thing Midnight found her as she could lay in the cold for more extended hours which would affect her body and her entire health.

The heroic act of Midnight got the attention of the CBS Minnesota. They interviewed Curfman and showed their audience the inspiring story of Midnight.

You can watch the video below showing the interview of CBS Minnesota to Curfman.

Our thoughts

Treat others well, and everyone will treat you the same way. This lesson is the first learning that we can get from the story above. Tim Curfman certainly taught his dog the best traits and behavior where Midnight learned compassion and kindness towards others. Thus, we have to be the best role models for our dogs. These dogs can distinguish the right from wrong, but if we continuously show them the evil acts, they will most likely believe that it is acceptable. Let us all be good dog owners by being the best role models.

Giant Wolfdog Left By Owner At Kill Shelter Rescued By Sanctuary, Turns Out To Be ‘Super Goofy’

A boxer dog is staring at the camera

A giant wolfdog that was left by its owner at a kill shelter for being “too much to handle” was rescued by a sanctuary and got a chance to receive lots of love and care.

Yuki was only 8 months old when his owner gave up on him and decided to take him to the kill shelter. Fortunately, an organization called Shy Wolf Sanctuary, which provides shelter and rehabilitation to wolves both wild and captive bred, intervened and took Yuki in.

“We rescued him from a failed house pet situation,” Shy Wolf Sanctuary staff Brittany Allen explained. According to her, Yuki’s owner left him in a kill shelter when he was an 8-month old pup. The sanctuary decided to take him in.

Allen explained it’s not easy to predict the behavior patterns of a wolfdog because it displays a mixture of both wolf and dog traits. It’s also difficult to tell how much of each trait will be manifested by the breed. Owners who adopt wolfdogs as a puppy find it hard to deal with them later on when their true behavior starts to come out.

This was what happened to Yuki, who actually had three previous owners who also gave up on him, besides the one that left him in a kill shelter. DNA testing revealed that Yuki is a high content wolfdog, being 87.5% Gray Wolf. He is also 8.6% Siberian Husky. The remaining 3.9% is German Shepherd.

With a DNA composition like that, it’s no wonder Yuki has grown so big. At 120 pounds, Yuki is easily one of the biggest animals in the sanctuary.

Today, Yuki is one of the most popular wolves in the sanctuary. People have also gained a lot of interest in him.

It turns out he’s a ladies’ man—and a show-off, too. Some sanctuary volunteers said Yuki loves women and loves showing off to visitors. They also said he could be “super goofy.”

However, he only allows a few women to get close to him in his enclosure. And if he doesn’t like you, he’ll let you know.

Yuki is now 12 years old and enjoys a lot of love and attention at the sanctuary that saved him.

A Life Transformed For A Blind Sixteen-Year-Old Dog

A black and white dog standing in the grass

Functioning without the sense of sight is hard enough for humans, but it is even harder for dogs.

A senior blind dog in line for being euthanized, Cherry Blossom lived in a Los Angeles shelter that was full of other dogs who are also up for being euthanized. Fortunately for Cherry Blossom, she was rescued by the founder of Hand in Paw himself, Piper Thomas.

Cherry Blossom had a bad case of matted fur and a trembling body caused by anxiety. She also cannot see, which made her situation a hundred times worse. In a crowded shelter like the one in Los Angeles, a blind dog would have to suffer from sensory overload because of all the movement and the noise.

According to the LA shelter, Cherry Blossom was a rescued stray from the streets of LA. She was found rummaging the trash for some food. The shelter was sure that Cherry Blossom was abandoned, and it probably was because she could not reproduce anymore.

When Piper brought her out her kennel and out of the chaotic shelter, it was only then that Cherry Blossoms was able to breathe a sigh of relief and relax. Piper brought her to the vet to be checked, and from there they discovered that the little dog had several tumors in her body, along with ear infections and dental ailment.

All these diagnoses confused Cherry Blossom as she cannot see what was happening. Fortunately, she was able to recover from these diseases quickly. Piper also brought her to an eye specialist, who was able to perform eye surgery on Cherry Blossom.

In a short period, Cherry Blossom can finally see again.

After all this, Cherry Blossom is a totally transformed dog. Piper found someone who wanted to adopt her, for whom Cherry Blossom is very lucky to have.

Now, Cherry Blossom is living her best life as a chic, famous dog. She has become inseparable from her fur parent with a really visible love between the two of them. Her fur parent loves dressing up Cherry Blossom now and has spoiled the sixteen-year-old dog.

Watch How This Bulldog Impresses Everyone With His Incredible Agility At A Dog Show

A close up of a bulldog in a field.

We probably view Bulldogs as gentle, but seemingly lethargic and lazy dogs.

Bulldogs have a wide body, wrinkled foreheads, and droopy mouth with an underbite. This type of breed also has a tendency to snore and drool when sleeping. Even though they have a muscular built, Bulldogs are known to have low-endurance and prone to weight gain and obesity. They walk slowly and gently, and if Bulldogs can talk, they will probably have a deep, sleepy voice.

Playing sports and being active seems unlikely to be part of a Bulldog’s lifestyle, and moving around often is not their favorite thing to do.

However, this Bulldog from Ohio proved to us he can break down stereotypes.

Von Rudolph Augustus Perkins or Rudy —  is a chunky but lovable Bulldog who competed in the Westminster Dog Show. He was in the 16-inch class and joined by his handler, Debra Perkins.

Westminster Kennel Club is known as America’s long-running organization for purebred-dog sports. The dog show is held every year, at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. This dog show now includes Masters Agility Championship and the Masters Obedience Championship.

A Rescued Senior Dog Survived Days In The Freezing Winter Cold

A dog is sitting in front of a freezing white background.

Dogs and “getting stuck out in the winter cold” will never be a good pair, especially if the dog is already ahead in her age. This is what happened to a senior dog known as Old Lady after she ran and got lost for seventeen days out in the freezing cold.

Old Lady, a St. Bernard who’d survived life at a horrendous puppy mill and was rescued along with four hundred (400) other dogs at the turn of the year. She went into foster care with Ruff Start Rescue and just when she was about to start life in a new home, fear of unfamiliar surroundings caught up to her. With this, she ran away.

The foster picked her up and brought Old Lady to her new home. But as soon as they got her out of the car, Old Lady got spooked by the sounds of crunching ice. She ran dragging the foster halfway down the ice covered driveway.

Her foster family and other rescue volunteers immediately start searching. Rescuers wrote on Facebook that they’ve had search parties, phone calls, signs and many other people out there looking for her.

Ruff Start Rescue described Old Lady as a quick and strong dog for her age. But despite her fitness they were all concerned. The St. Bernard is now out in the cold and on her own for seventeen (17) days. Still, they continued searching.

Alas, after weeks of searching, she had been found. Go to the next page to see some reunion photos.

Bar And Dogpark Business: An Interesting Venture

Keywords: dogpark, statue

Remember back in college, when you and your friends were drinking and you’re a bit tipsy? Then you start sharing your crazy business ideas for a bar? Combining different elements that would make the business stand out and become the talk of the town. Well, it turns out, one of those guys were serious about their visions.

The concept of Boozehounds was born, and now is being realized. They are expected to open this summer in Orlando, Florida. The business is supposed to bring two places into one – a dog park for the good doggos who like to socialize, and a bar where the owners can socialize as well.

There will be a lot of facilities for the pups to play around in. These will help the dogs with their exercise – they can play around with other dogs – and it helps keep them entertained. For the dog parents, they will have a full bar with booze and TVs to watch their games and meet new acquaintances as well.

Would this really work? Go to the next page and see more details.

Professional Runner Ran Marathon With His Pup

The shadow of a marathon runner running on the street.

Since our dogs are our best friends, they’re not just there to guard your home or help with watching over your animals on your farm. Dogs need to bond with you as their owner. A good way for them to do this is by joining you in your outdoor activities. We all know that they hate being left alone at home. Who wouldn’t?

Our pups have a playful nature, and this is the perfect link between you and your dog. When it’s time for you to play, why not bring them along? If you are going to the beach or the lake, they are the perfect companions. If you are going for a jog at the park, might as well take them too.

For professional marathon runner Scott Smith, it’s easier said than done. See, Scott is an elite runner and running is his profession. He represented the USA team back in the Beijing Olympics and he is a member of Hoka One One Northern Arizona Elite, a professional running team. So a run with his dogs, Murphy and Lizzy, is not that simple.
