Man Chooses To Stay Behind With His Pets Amidst Hurricane Dorian

Two pictures of a man hugging a dog in an airport.

The first instinct that most people do when natural calamities come is to secure their safety and their loved ones’. Sadly, some owners often forget that pets are families too and do not include them in evacuating danger zones.

One man in the Bahamas documented how he bravely waited out the hurricane Dorian together with his pets in his home. Bruce Claridge took a video of himself, sharing that the storm is coming in closer into their home.

In the video, he showed how strong the winds blew. He urged the people watching his video to say a prayer because he knew that it would take a while before the storm passes.

Bruce took a video of himself together with his pet dogs, Mushy, and Bella. After he described Mushy as his big old baby, he went on to show his other pup named Bella.

Bruce knew that his Great Danes were obviously frightened because of how strong the winds were. Bruce was calm despite how terrifying the situation was outside his home.

He tried to book a flight that would take him, his dogs, and his wife’s pet cats, out of the Bahamas, but he did not succeed. Bruce loved his dogs so much that he could not bear leaving his dogs alone in the storm.

Bruce risked his life by staying in his home just so he could be with his Great Danes and his wife’s cats. He tried to make do with the little supplies he has left in his home, while he waited for the storm to calm down.

Fortunately, Bruce was able to get in touch with an animal rescue group. He coordinated with them to help save the other stranded dogs on the island.

Thanks to Bruce’s bravery, not only did he save himself and his pets, but he also rescued other dogs in need. Many people even applauded Bruce for being so thoughtful of those in need.

Watch This Dog Sing Along To Michael Jackson During A Car Ride

A dog is looking up at a chair.

Michael Jackson is one of the most popular artists on radio and TV. This man has created a ton of top hits. Despite his demise, his songs are still being played and many people still sing them and perform them.

Michael Jackson’s songs are quite catchy and they are so popular that a lot of people know them. Sometimes, we may not notice it but when one of his songs play on the radio or on Spotify or whatever it is that you are using to listen to music, you just go along and sing along.

But humans are not the only ones who are susceptible to singing along with Michael Jackson. Go ahead and read this story and you would know just how a dog cannot help it but howl and sing along to Michael Jackson’s tunes.

The dog who couldn’t help but howl along to Michael Jackson is named Honey. Honey is a rescue dog who lives in Humboldt, California. If her owner just told the story, you may not believe it. But Honey’s singing along has been captured on camera for all of us to believe!

Honey does not just howl. She makes sure that she sings along. You would notice it that every time she howls, it is just right along to the lyrics and the beat of the song. Oh, this dog is surely a Michael Jackson fan.

This is surely a skill that not all dogs have. Honey’s owner is quite amused at what Honey can do. She is also quite proud to have Honey as her dog. I think Honey can even sing along to Michael Jackson’s songs even better than most people out there.

With the popularity that Michael Jackson’s songs have, we are not surprised why Honey did this. If we sing along with his songs, why can’t Honey do the same?

Staff Members And Volunteers Get To Know What It’s Like To Live As A Shelter Animal For One Day

A person petting a dog in a cage.

A shelter in Massachusetts thought of a unique way to help humans find out what it feels like to be a shelter animal. For one whole day, a group of volunteers stayed at the facility and did the same activities as the rescue animals.

Cape Ann Animal Aid, a non-profit organization and no-kill shelter, is proud of its Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter at 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester. Donations helped erect the $2 million state-of-the-art building.

According to Don Fryklund, a board member, the shelter is comparable to a five-star hotel. Besides being exceptionally clean and brightly lit, the facility has roomy “condos” instead of cages for their canine and feline guests.

These qualities are partly why the organization’s fundraiser, called Night Without A Family, gained widespread attention. As Development and Communications Director Rebecca Baylies says, the program shows that shelters can be warm, friendly places too.

Cape Ann’s rescue animals have comfortable rooms. They’re also not cooped up 24 hours a day. Instead, the dogs and cats socialize and perform exercises that challenge both body and mind.

Two board members, one employee, and two volunteers participated in last year’s Night Without A Family event. All five of them spent time at the shelter’s animal condos, with two sharing a single room. They had no phones, no books, nothing — only themselves.

Just like the rescue animals, the participants were on display to shelter visitors. A placard outside their room explained why there was a human inside. The sign also asked for donations that eventually went toward Cape Ann’s Enrichment Program.

The five volunteers ate and slept in their condos, then cuddled with the cute cats and dogs. At playtime, the participants went outside with the animals to stretch their legs and run around the enrichment yard. Afterward, they took a stroll in the woods of West Gloucester.

At the end of the event, the participants unanimously stated that it was a great experience. Being fully present in the moment while snuggling with the animals and playing with them was calming.

At the same time, the fundraiser was also eye-opening. The volunteers realized how lonely and, at times, boring it was for the animals to merely sit there, waiting for a family to take them home.

The good news is that the shelter surpassed its goals for this fundraiser. Initially, Cape Ann set the bar at $5,000, but everybody was pleasantly surprised to find that the donations reached $10,000 after the event!

And Night Without A Family is more than just a fundraiser. Feedback from the previous participants has shaped the way Cape Ann employees plan daily routines for their rescue animals.

Furthermore, the event attracts attention to the shelter cats and dogs, which helps them find new homes. Watch a recap of Night Without A Family here:

Well-Behaved Service Dogs In Canada Watched Billy Elliot Together

A girl laying on the grass with a dog.

A new viral photo of dogs is circulating on the internet. The picture shows a group of service dogs sitting inside a theater in Canada. They are all patiently seated while watching the Billy Elliot production.

The group consists of various breeds of dogs which include golden retrievers and a bunch of poodles. They took up four rows inside the theater. The activity aimed to help the dogs practice their adaptability skills.

The service dogs needed to learn how to assist their handlers in a theater atmosphere. According to the owner of K-9 Country Inn Working Service Dogs, Laura Mackenzie, the dogs should know how to stay with their handler and be able to be of service in different settings.

The theater is a perfect area to practice this skill because dogs are exposed to different lights, various movements, and loud noises. They should be able to learn how to remain calm and relaxed inside the area for hours.

The production featured a relaxed performance which was created solely for people who have autism or for people who need a more serene atmosphere. The place also features other productions which are made for people who have difficulty seeing or hearing.

According to Ann Swerdfager, the spokesperson of Stratford Festival, the service dogs were all well-behaved. They also knew how to leave and return to their seats without any commotion.

Swerdfager mentioned that the cast and other audience members were pleased to see the service dogs. The training can be done inside the theater, and the dogs can visit the area a few times a week. She also mentioned that the training is good because people who need service dogs will not hesitate to visit the theater anymore. They can visit as much as they like as long as they have a trained service pooch on their side.

Thank you to K-9 Country Inn Working Service Dogs for this amazing feature! Hopefully, more service dogs can experience this type of training in the future.

This Mother Dog Makes Sure Her Daughter Always Has Something To Eat

Two white dogs kissing each other in front of a fence.

A mother’s love is pure and selfless. They say a mother will do anything for her child even if it means making sacrifices for herself. This statement is also true even for man’s best friend. Many have documented motherly acts from dogs. The following story is another documentation of a dog showing pure motherly care.

We’re going to follow the life of a dog from South Korea named Chorong. She has one daughter named Eu-bbun. The two of them don’t live together because they have different owners. However, that doesn’t stop Chorong from caring for her pup.

Fortunately, the homes of the two owners are located in the same neighborhood. So all Chorong has to do is walk a few blocks.

So what does Chorong do? It’s simple yet endearing. Any time she receives food either from her owner or a passerby, she doesn’t eat. Instead, she takes the food and brings it to where Eu-bbun is.

It doesn’t matter if its ribs, meat, or even bread, she is going to bring it to her daughter and feed her. That’s a solid example of motherly love.

Eu-bbun’s owner sometimes has to escort Chorong out of the residence. Otherwise, she is going to stay there indefinitely. Meanwhile, Chorong’s owner always ends up calling her to get back.

Both owners are worried about Chorong’s health. It has come to the point where she wouldn’t eat. All the food she receives goes to her daughter. Because of the concern, they sought the help of a veterinarian.

The solution to the problem was simple. Chorong needs to see her daughter eat first. The vet advised the owners to feed them together. As expected once Chorong realizes Eu-bbun is eating properly, she begins to eat her meal.

Eu-bbun has grown significantly in a few months. She has become the same size as her mother. The two dogs continue to play and dine together. This is a mother and daughter duo that won’t be separated.

German Shepherd Rescued From High Kill Shelter Enjoys Full Life With New Mom

A german shepherd dog laying in the grass.

Dogs end up in kill shelters for various reasons. For a German Shepherd named Eva, it was simply because of the neglect of her previous owner.

Having no time to take care of her, Eva’s previous owner left her in the shelter. She was scared and unsure of the people around her. Because of her history, she grew suspicious of humans.

One day, someone from German Shepherd Rescue saw her and decided to take her along with another dog. While she liked her new environment, Eva knew it wasn’t her home. She longed for the day she would have her own home.

And that day did come. A woman named Felicia often visited Eva at the rescue center. She fell in love with the dog and decided to adopt her.

That was a turning point in both of their lives. They didn’t know it at the time, but being together changed their lives in a way they didn’t imagine.

Under Felicia’s loving care, Eva blossomed into a loyal, warm, and faithful dog. She experienced so many things that she didn’t know about in her old home, like sleeping in a dog bed and playing with toys.

Soon, Eva learned how to be a dog again. She enjoyed every moment with her mom Felicia. They walked four times a day. They ate their meals together, watched movies together, and cuddled on the bed at night. It was more than Eva could ask for.

However, she wasn’t the only one who bloomed in their relationship. Before Eva was adopted, her mom was sick; she felt tired quickly and couldn’t walk far. But with Eva on her side, her health slowly improved.

Felicia became better until she was able to go back to work. Eva’s presence in her life gave her so much joy that her physical body was strengthened. She may have rescued Eva, but Eva’s love rescued her back.

Love truly heals all wounds. Watch Eva and Felicia’s touching story in the video below. Don’t forget to grab a tissue before you do!

Service Dog Helps His Mom With Almost Everything

A dog is standing on a table in a room.

It is hard to go through a major health problem that leaves you unable to control your body or even take care of yourself properly without having to ask help from others all the time. This same thing can be said for this woman after her brain injury. Luckily, she was able to find help in her service dog to make things much easier for her.

Helping out his mom

Colt is a very special service dog who was specifically trained for a specific person –  his mom. This is because his human suffered from a major brain injury that has left her not only having difficulty walking but also experiencing seizures and fainting. She is also currently using a wheelchair since she is still undergoing physical therapy for her to be able to walk properly again.

More than a companion

Because of this, Colt has been not only a companion for her but also the best helper that she could ever ask for. He brings her anything she may need and can even open up the refrigerator to get her a drink or some food. But the most important role that Colt plays is seizure patrol.

When seizures occur

Colt like most dogs have very sensitive senses. This sensitivity helps him predict when his mom is about to have a seizure. When it comes, he knows just what to do to get his mom out of that state. He licks her arms and face to help wake her up. He even gives her pressure therapy by laying on her while he listens to her heartbeat. Once the seizure subsides, he is also able to get her the medication that she needs without her having to strain herself to stand up from the bed.

Although he is still a regular dog that has his goofy and playful moments, he is always there to be relied on whenever he is needed.
