Dogs Hang out in Luxury at Amazon’s Headquarters

Rufus became such a fixture to his human colleagues that his paw was used to click on things like the some of the first Amazon.com pages that were launched. He also had his picture featured as one of the 404-error pages. He shared that spotlight with some furry companions; Lucy the Labrador, Sherriff the golden-Aussie mix and Martini the Papillon and many others.

 

Rufus has a prominent place in the Amazon headquarters. There are photos of him throughout the building as well as a building named after him.

 

“Having dogs in our workplace is an amazing treat. They make employees smile, and we’re proud this is such a uniquely Amazonian tradition. It’s truly ingrained in our company culture,” says Lara Hirschfield, Amazon’s ‘Woof Pack’ Manager. “Amazon has been dog-friendly since Day 1. Our dogs add to the fun, dynamic energy of our workplace.”

 

Every reception desk in the 8 million square foot building is stocked with dog treats. Employees get to enjoy catered meals and happy hours and the dogs get to spend the day with their owners and socialize with other canines.

 

There is even a dog deck on the 17th floor that has a faux fire hydrant and area for the dogs to run. There are plenty of amenities and supplies for the dogs including water fountains just for the pooches. There are also opportunities to have play dates.
