4. Warm up your dog
Cover your dog with a towel or blanket if he seems cold. Another tip to quickly warm up your dog is to put your blow dryer on low but avoid the paws. Paws are very sensitive and could easily burn. A better idea is to heat up rice in a sock (or use a reusable heating pack) in the microwave. Be sure to test the heating pack against your wrist before using on your dog. If your dog has a thinner coat or you know that he gets cold often, make sure to have plenty of warm weather gear like boots, coats and/or shoes.
5. Preserve your dog’s paws
To keep your dog’s protected in cold weather try using dog shoes or booties. If your dog develops cracks in her paws, apply a cow udder moisturizers to them. To keep your dog distracted after applying the moisturizer try using a puzzle feeder or a give her a treat. Remember to wipe off your dog’s paws before he comes inside to help protect them.
