Luckily for his pups, about the time the Santa Barbara Street Mile came, Scott wasn’t in full form. So he decided to bow out from the race. However, there is another event associated with the elite race, the World Championship Dog Mile. Since he has two dogs, this idea has Scott’s tail wagging.
This is definitely a competition that is right up Scott’s alley. Unfortunately, he could only take one dog to the race. But since he just wanted to experience it and wasn’t looking to make this his new forte, he took Murphy, the slower pup out of his two dogs. The fast one, Lizzy, could pose some problems as she dislikes being around other dogs.
When the day of the race came, Murphy was fired up! He took off like a rocket from the starting line, eager to impress his human dad. Later on, Scott tried to control his pace to conserve their energy. But 200 meters away from the finish line, Murphy was gassed – they finished third in the race but Scott was so happy with the result. He was not expecting that Murphy would have it in him to run a marathon and he proved a lot to Scott that day.
